The victims of yesterday's horrific car crash at the intersection of Custer Road and Highway 121 have been identified as Cynthia Carter, a 33-year old from McKinney and Laurie Worman, a 35-year old also from McKinney, according to the Plano Police Department.

Criminal charges are pending against the driver of the truck, Jermey Davidson, a 20-year old from McKinney.

Carter was killed at approximately 6:40 a.m. Wednesday when both her Ford Focus and Worman's Ford Expedition hit Davidson’s 18-wheeler.

The Ford Focus went under the truck and burst into flames, according to the Plano Police Department. Worman was taken to the hospital but did not sustain any serious injuries.

Both Custer and Worman were going southbound down Custer Road, coming out of Frisco headed toward Plano when they hit the sand hauler, said Officer David Tilley, a spokesperson with the Plano Police Department. The police estimate that the truck weighed somewhere between 64,000 and 80,000 lbs.

Police confirmed Thursday afternoon that the truck was carrying a full load of sand at the time of the accident, but have yet to release how large a load the truck was carrying. The legal limit for the truck is 80,000 lbs.

According to police there was no red light camera at the intersection of the service road and Custer Road. Department Of Transportation and the Plano Police Department are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.

" Mrs. Carter was my daughter's 6th grade teacher at A+ Academey in Dallas. She was an awesome teacher and a wonderful person. She was strict with her students, but she was fair and they knew that she loved them. She always took the time to talk to and encourage her students. She always had a cup of ice and her pretzels and she would playingly threaten the students not to touch them. My daughter took the news of her death extremely hard. Our prayers go out to Mr. Carter and their kids. He is a caring, wonderful person as well and I know that their family was very close. God bless All of you!!!!! "
