Local shopping campaign set for kick-off
BY KEVIN BOWEN
The Shop The Colony campaign will kick off Feb. 28 at a ceremony that will also mark the one-year anniversary of Papa Murphy's Take'n'Bake Pizza.
The campaign is intended to encourage residents to keep their money in town when they shop.
"We decided on Papa Murphy because they were saying we made it a year because local people came here," said Allison Mihavics, The Colony Chamber president.
Next week, campaign supporters will start to distribute buttons, decals, and information on the program to local businesses. These items will advertise the campaign and identify participating merchants and businesses.
Businesses will also be able to get campaign information and materials on the Chamber's Web site, www.thecolonychamber.org. Information will also be available in the Chamber's magazine "The Colony Connection."
Mihavics said some of the major retailers in The Colony have agreed to have their employees wear the buttons while on the job.
