Police quarterly awards
to be presented Thursday
The Lewisville Police Department will hold its quarterly awards ceremony on at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Glenmore Savage Community Room of the Municipal Annex at 1197 W. Main Street.
Two department personnel will be formally promoted to new positions, and awards will be presented for the top officer and civilian of the quarter. Service tenure, safe driving and perfect attendance pins also will be awarded.
Adult basketball
registration begins
Registration for the city’s adult Men’s Open and Church basketball leagues is under way through Friday at the Parks and Leisure Services office of the Municipal Annex at 1197 W. Main Street.
The church league will play on Saturdays, and the men’s open league will play on Sundays, starting the weekend of May 12-13.

Citywide litter cleanup
Scheduled for Saturday
Keep Lewisville Beautiful will celebrate its 21st annual citywide cleanup on Saturday, in conjunction with Keep Texas Beautiful Trash Off and Keep America Beautiful Great America Clean Up, the nation’s largest organized pickup drawing million of volunteers each year.
Volunteers are needed locally for cleanup teams, and sponsors are needed for door prizes. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Lewisville High School parking lot at 1090 West Main Street. The cleanup will be from 9 a.m. to noon and lunch will be provided.
Volunteers unable to participate in the citywide event can arrange their own neighborhood or spot cleanups by contacting Keep Lewisville Beautiful at 972-436-5100 or by e-mail at info@keeplewisvillebeautiful.org.
