A renovation project at Dallas Regional Medical Center has been completed, resulting in a new orthopedic unit which will open Oct. 22.

The 10-bed unit has two operating rooms and all patient rooms are private.

“Everything is new,” said Paula Reisdorfer, spokesperson for Dallas Regional Medical Center.

The unit is located on the second floor of the north wing of the Galloway Avenue campus and was unveiled during a ribbon cutting Thursday with the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce.

The unit is designed for complete orthopedic care.

“The focus on our orthopedic patient begins when they enter the hospital,” said Gaylon Maddox, assistant chief nursing officer overseeing the orthopedic unit. “We will admit directly into this unit. This makes us more customer driven.”

The attached video includes statements from Reisdorfer and Maddox on the unveiling of the orthopedic unit, which Maddox indicates will be fully operational on Oct. 22 when the first surgery is planned.
