McKinney woman jumps from vehicle
BY DANNY GALLAGHER, McKinney Courier-Gazette
A McKinney woman told police she jumped from a moving vehicle after an argument with another passenger Wednesday afternoon, Melissa Police Department officials said.
The incident occurred about 3:52 p.m. on the southbound side of State Highway 121 in Melissa, Melissa PD Sgt. Kyle Babcock said.
The woman, identified as 19-year-old Corey Camille Barron of McKinney, got into an argument with one of her fellow passengers, Babcock said.
Witnesses told Melissa PD officials that Barron jumped out of the car, bounced once and came to rest on the side of the road, Babcock said.
Officers responded to the incident and discovered she sustained some injuries, but none of them were life-threatening.
She also told police she threw herself out of the moving vehicle, Babcock said.
“She was conscious and alert at the scene and told officers she jumped out on purpose,” Babcock said.
Babcock said he did not know the nature of the argument.
Barron was flown to Parkland Memorial Hospital of Dallas. A hospital official could not be reached by presstime.
Babcock said since the victim admitted to officers she jumped out of the vehicle, the Melissa PD is not conducting a criminal investigation and no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
