Video may link man to robberies in four cities
By DAN EAKIN, Staff Writer
A man who apparently has robbed or attempted to rob pharmacies of drugs in four area cities was videotaped when he robbed the Walgreen’s at 1103 W. Round Grove Road in Lewisville last Wednesday.
The man, who is believed to be in his mid-20s, has placed stolen license plates on his silver Toyota sports car on at least two occasions before going into a pharmacy and demanding drugs.
About 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday, according to Capt. Kevin Deaver of the Lewisville Police Department, the man entered the Walgreen’s in Lewisville. As he approached the pharmacy counter, he produced a trash bag and a note. The note told the employee that the suspect had a gun and not to call the police or activate an alarm. Deaver said the note also listed specific types of narcotics that the man wanted to be placed in the trash bag.
Since the descriptions of the man and the sports car have been the same in each case, police believe the robberies are likely to have been committed by the same person.
While the man has not been successful in every robbery attempt, he has succeeded in getting away with drugs worth several thousand dollars. In the robbery at Pharmacy & Herbal alone, he took 11 bottles that contained 784 pills valued at a total of $3,778.
Lewisville police did not list the number of pills or the amount taken from the Walgreen’s in Lewisville.
Among the narcotics that the man demands are OxyContin, a very strong and very addictive pain reliever, and Hydrocodone, a similar medication but of less strength.
Police are hoping that someone will identify the suspect from the video. The man has been described as being a white male with brown hair, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 175 pounds. In each robbery, he was wearing a desert tan camouflage ball cap and jacket, gray or brown work pants and prescription-style eyeglasses.
In both the robberies in Flower Mound and Lewisville, police determined that the license plate on his sports car had been stolen about two days earlier.
Anyone who can identify the suspect is urged to contact police. The Lewisville Department’s Tip Line is 972-219-3666.
