Central Market host free lecture
Central Market will feature a free community lecture titled, “Building a Better Brain,” that will include the latest research as to which foods and habits are most likely to enhance our brain, the most important and metabolically active organ in the body. Todd Whitthorn will be the featured speaker at the lecture.
Whitthorne is currently the president and chief executive officer of Cooper Concepts, Inc., a division of Cooper Aerobics Center in Dallas. He also serves as chairman of the Our Kids’ Health Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reducing childhood obesity in Texas. After graduating from UCLA with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise physiology, Whitthorne began a broadcasting career that would take him to various stops from Washington D.C. to Phoenix and Dallas. He won both an Emmy and a Katie award as co-host of “Good Morning Texas” on WFAA-TV, the Dallas ABC affiliate.
An accomplished and frequent speaker to large and small corporate groups, schools and nonprofit organizations, Whitthorne is well versed in a variety of wellness topics. His presentations include: “Your Health, Your Responsibility;” “Healthy Living: The Links to Personal and Professional Success;” “The ABC’s of Nutritional Supplements;” “Fitness for Life;” “Building a Better Brain,” and “Corporate Wellness Pays Big Dividends.”
The lecture will take place Friday August 8 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the community room behind the café at Central Market in Southlake.

Central Market offers a family atmosphere and live music Friday and Saturday nights on their patio, weather permitting.

Movies in the Park
Bob Jones Park will have their movies in the park series Friday. The event will be held outdoors so bringing blankets, lawn chairs, or something else to sit on is recommended. The concession stand will open at 8:30 p.m. and the movie will start at 9:15 p.m. This week’s movie will be Daddy Day Camp. The event is free and will continue through August.
Masterworks Music Series
The summer music series has a concert Saturday and will continue throughout the summer. The free event will take place in Rustin Pavilion in Town Square. The band to perform will be Razzmajazz, a Dixieland band. The event is out doors so lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged, but no alcohol or glass containers will be permitted. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
