LISD scores on SAT higher than state, U.S. average
By Chris Roark, Staff Writer
Just days after celebrating Lewisville ISD’s favorable state and national comparison in its ACT scores, district officials are excited again with the release of SAT score comparisons.
The district comparison shows that LISD’s composite SAT score of 538 ranks higher than the state average of 491 and the national average of 504.
There were 1,813 students in LISD who took the exam.
In terms of district comparisons, Flower Mound High School was above the district average in composite score average and average score in each test. Marcus High School was above average in all categories except for mathematics, where it matched the district average score of 556.
Lewisville, Hebron and The Colony high schools were below the district average in all categories.
In another comparison, LISD’s average scores were higher than those of 2007. LISD’s average was six points higher in writing and four points higher in reading and math.
“We have a larger number of students taking the test,” said district spokesperson Dean Tackett. “Our averages continue to increase, in many instances by five or more points. And, I think that’s significant.”
LISD’s average composite score and individual test scores were higher than the state and national average in 2007 as well.
