From staff reports
Poet laureates are individuals who show accomplishment in the field of poetry, and make their nations proud. Little did Griffin Middle School know that it would have its own published poet within its campus walls, and that this special person would come in the form of a seventh-grader.
With Griffin’s new mascot, The Griffin Pride, Sanna Mughal fits right in as she was awarded the book “Celebration of Poets,” published by Creative Communications, in which her poem “Dreams” appears. The collection of poetry, which contains her work, consists of selected poems from grades seven through 12. Her poem can be found in the spring 2008 edition.
Sanna smiled and giggled a little when Karen Hendrix, reading teacher, presented her with her own copy of the hardbound book. She has much to smile about, and Griffin has much of which to be proud.

Climbers climb, it’s time to try
Where the mountains touch the sky
Take me there, oh take me there now
Someway, someday, somewhere, somehow
Where the ocean meets the sky
Where the birds dance and eagles fly
A place in dreams, I know so well
The sea inside a single shell
Only dreamers need apply
Where the ocean meets the play
Take me there, oh take me there now
Someway, someday, somewhere, somehow
A common ground for one and all
Behind the crystal waterfall
Where peace flows like a mighty stream
Like everybody’s dream
Where the forest reaches the sky
Wake up and dream, don’t be shy
This is where we look and find
Real things are born with dreams

Second, I would like to say that she was not the only Griffin Middle School student who was published in the same book. It is a shame that not all the students got the recognition they deserve.
The Colony Courier-Leader should do a better job with investigating the stories and give credit where credit is due. "
