Children’s authors come to Southlake for reading

Cole Family Christmas author’s Jenifer Lui Bryan and Hazel Cole Kendle will be at Barnes and Noble on Friday Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. The grandmother/granddaughter teams will read their book about Hazel’s coal mining family and an unforgettable they had in 1920. The true story has been passed down for generations and has finally been written as a book by the two. An interactive character, Hilda the Goat, will also be joining the two for the reading. She is a character in the book, but will show up as a live interactive cartoon character. Children will have a chance to talk to her and she will respond to them in real time.

Man Arrested in Vehicle Vandalism case

James Andrew Jeppe, 72, of Southlake turned himself into police at Tarrant County Jail on Sept. 19. He was later released on $1000 bail. Jeppe was wanted in connection with the Hummer vandalism case on Sept. 5. He was recognized after the surveillance tapes were released to local media. Jeppe is alleged to have scratched two x’s on a Hummer SUV parked in the lot at Carroll Senior High. He went to the school to purchase tickets for an upcoming football game. The vehicle, belonging to a student, was equipped with a video surveillance system that showed a suspect scratching the X’s.

According to a media release from the Southlake police department, this level of offense is considered a state jail felony, punishable by confinement in a state jail between 180 days and two years and a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Club Corp’s Charity Classic

Club Corp’s will host the largest one day golf tournament on Sept. 26. The event will take place on golf courses all over the country on Friday and the proceeds will all go to chairity. The start time will be a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start. Registration is $150 for golf and the silent action, and $100 just for the dinner and action.
