Former 12-year Denver Broncos’ left tackle Matt Lepsis will be speaking at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 16 at First United Methodist Church, 4901 Paige Road, in The Colony.
He graduated from Frisco High School in 1992 as a two-way player on offense and defense. He was named to the all-state team his senior year and became the first and only player from Frisco ISD to be selected to play in the Coaches All-Star Game.
Lepsis was heavily recruited by many universities and chose the University of Colorado, where he starred as a tight-end his last three years on a nationally ranked team and was on the team that won the Cotton Bowl his senior year.
Recognized by experts as one of the premier free agent signings, he anchored lines which produced record-rushing statistics for numerous Bronco runners while playing on two Super Bowl teams.
Three years ago when Lepsis re-injured his knee, Bronco coach Mike Shanahan was asked by sports writers if that would have a negative effect on the team. “Of course, it will,” Shanahan said. “He’s one of our best players.”
Lepsis has an authentic and amazing story of a life “turned around.” For information, call the church office at 972-625-1281.
