Firefighters suspect arson in weekend fire
By Ann Marie Shambaugh, Staff Writer
A fire that destroyed a home on Pebblebrook Drive early Saturday morning may have been set on purpose, firefighters said, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
The attic of the vacant one-story home was fully involved when firefighters arrived on the scene at about 1:25 a.m. Twenty-two firefighters battled the blaze for about half an hour from the outside.
“Within almost a minute or so of us being on the scene the fire broke through the roof and we could see it [spreading] very quickly, so it wasn’t a good environment to put the firemen in,” Frisco Fire Department Deputy Chief Paul Siebert said.
No one was injured during the blaze, and the fire did not spread to other properties. Siebert said one of the neighboring homes experienced roof discoloration but no major damage.
The home has been vacant since the owner died, and the status of who owns it is part of the investigation.
