Medical Center of McKinney recently announced the selection of Randy Blanchard, RN, for the position of Chief Nursing Officer. Blanchard came on with the hospital in December and said he is ready to lead.

"I look forward to leading the nursing staff to a new level of excellence and helping each of them grow and develop as a professional," Blanchard said.

A former Air Force staff nurse, Blanchard came to the McKinney hospital from Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas where he worked for more than 20 years. Medical Center President, Ernest C. Lynch, III, said he looks forward to bringing in the new leadership.

"We are excited that Randy has joined the Medical Center of McKinney team," Lynch said. "His management skills and dedication to clinical excellence will guide our nursing staff forward in providing quality care to our patients."

Blanchard got his bachelor's degree in Nursing at Valdosta State in Georgia. He did graduate work in North Texas obtaining master's degrees in Healthcare Administration and Business Administration from Texas Woman's University. He said he looks forward to continuing to work working in the North Texas area.

"I am very pleased and honored to have been selected for the position and look forward to serving the citizens of McKinney and the surrounding area."

Blanchard held a number of leadership roles in his past position at Parkland Hospital, according to a hospital statement.

Some of his roles included Vice President of Access Services; Director of Nursing, Emergency Services; Director of Emergency Services, Radiology & Medical Imaging Services; Division Manager of Operations & Finance n Ambulatory & Professional Services; and Nursing Administrative Assistant n Outpatient Clinics and Emergency Services.

" I certainly hope this appt helps with MUCH NEEDED improvements at Medical Center. I was there 3 wks ago and swore never to go there again..This past Friday I had to be taken to the Baylor Heart Hospital of Plano. Like the prev comment said it is such a shame that we have to go...to out of area hospitals to get decent care for anything Come on McKinney...get with the program. "
