McKinney boys lead 9-4A race, near 20-win season

G.J. Vilarino scored 29 points and Beau Smith added 18 as McKinney won at Denison, 70-58, on Friday night.
McKinney (6-1, 18-8) led by eight points early and took a 32-22 lead into halftime. McKinney came out scoring in the second half and put up 25 points for a 57-41 lead going into the last eight minutes.
Cameron Clark scored 15 points as second-place Sherman (5-2, 17-6) outpaced McKinney North, 58-47, on Friday.
In other action on Friday in 9-4A, Frisco Wakeland beat Centennial, 48-41, and Frisco defeated Liberty, 68-57.
Week in review: Mucci scored 23 points, and Vilarino added 20 as the McKinney boys beat Frisco Wakeland, 63-60, on Tuesday night. McKinney scoring: Beau Smith 6, Ronald Rocquemore 5, Jared Farley 5, Brandon White 4.
North beat Frisco Centennial, 48-47, in the final second on a 3-pointer by Greg Gali. North scoring: Abe Barnes 11, Antonio Arnold 11, Josh Green 7, Charles Parker 5, Bishop Cunningham 5, Gali 4, Chris Allen 3, Jared Stensrud 2.
On Tuesday night, McKinney North (3-4, 14-9) has a chance to move up as the two third-place teams, Denison (4-3, 17-6) and Frisco Wakeland (4-3, 13-8), play each other. North plays at Frisco Liberty (1-6, 5-15).
Frisco (3-4, 11-10) comes to McKinney. Frisco Centennial (2-5, 12-11) plays at Sherman.
In District 8-5A, Plano East beat McKinney Boyd, 72-61.
Jordan McKinney led Boyd with 16 points, and Darius Coleman scored a dozen points.
Boyd led early, 22-20, before slipping in the second quarter and going into halftime down, 39-34. The second half had less scoring as Plano East finished with 33 points in the last 16 minutes to win by 11 points.

In other action Friday in 8-5A, Jesuit defeated Plano, 56-47, and Wylie topped Allen, 65-56.
On Tuesday, Wylie (3-3, 13-12) travels to Boyd (0-6, 6-17) for a 7:30 p.m. start. Plano East (3-3, 11-12) will play at Plano (3-3, 11-12), and first-place Plano West (6-0, 21-2) goes to Allen (1-5, 8-15).
Five players scored in double-figures as Jesuit (5-1, 20-6) beat Boyd, 108-22, on Tuesday. Boyd scoring: Darius Coleman 10, Jack Meier 3, Zach Parr 2, Brandon Love 2, Colton Fries 2, Justin Davenport 2, Alex Coffin 1.

Plano East beat McKinney Boyd, 64-58, on Friday. Ashley Olvera led Boyd with 20 points, and Paige Parrish had 13 points. Boyd scoring: Shelby Driskell 8, Morgan Brownlee 7, Whitney Wehner 6, Kathryn Holmes 4.
Plano East scoring: Porsha Smith 16, Joselyn Pugh 12, Melissa Fox 10, Tanecia Harrison 8, Janee' Garza 7, Kytiana Seals 3, Madison Hunter 3, Kaylie Bell 3, Paris Thompson 2.
Denison beat McKinney, 49-47, on Friday. McKinney scoring: Kenzie Ogletree 14, Brittany Johnson 14, Simone Murthil 5, Shelby Terry 4, Shuwana Murphy 4, Madacen Maribo 4, Maddie Ogletree 2.
Sherman won at McKinney North, 53-46. Sara Herbel led North with 16 points, and Tahnie Hilliard added 11. North scoring: Amanda Mason 7, Lauree Stewart 3, Aundrea Gamble 3, Ashley Deas 2, Jemema Crayton 2, Rachel Thomas 1, Asa Livingston 1.
Week in review: Frisco Centennial's Brittanie Barton scored 26 points to beat McKinney North, 60-48, on Tuesday. Amanda Mason led North with 15 points, and Aundrea Gamble had 10 points.

McKinney fell to Frisco Wakeland, 64-47, on Tuesday night. Khristina Clemons scored 17 points to lead 7-1 Wakeland. Jackie Patterson had 15 points, Haley Texada 14, and Ann Simmons 12. Kenzie Ogletree led McKinney with 13 points.
On Tuesday night, McKinney North (2-7, 7-17) plays at Frisco Liberty (5-4, 13-11) at 6 p.m.
First-place Frisco (9-0, 24-3) is after its 25th win at McKinney (2-7, 13-15). Other games have Frisco Centennial (7-2, 15-11) at Sherman (2-6, 7-10), and Denison (1-7, 2-10) at Frisco Wakeland (7-2, 18-9).
McKinney Boyd (4-2, 10-10) plays at Wylie (2-5, 10-15) in 8-5A. Allen (6-1, 13-13) leads the race, with Plano West (5-1, 19-8) second.
