Heather and Bret Cox sat down recently to talk about the four babies they’re expecting some time in March. Their cozy living room was quiet and calm, but most likely won’t be that way for long. The couple is expecting two bouncing baby boys and two beautiful baby girls. Heather told how she and her husband reacted to the news.
“When we found out we were pregnant we were thrilled because we’d been trying to get pregnant for a while,” Heather said. “When we went in for our first sonogram we were just hoping and praying for a heartbeat. Immediately when the doctor flipped on the screen we saw three little dots. The doctor had this look on his face like ‘wow’ and he said, ‘Well, I think I see triplets.’ I just started crying happy tears and looked at Bret. Then he [the doctor] said ‘Wait a minute, I think I may see another one.’”
Heather got pregnant after starting the fertility drug Clomid. She and her husband have been married for two and half years and are both from the Anna/Melissa area.
Soon to be dad, Bret, works as an Engineering Technician at Raytheon and plans to graduate in May with a Bachelors of Science in Business. The couple also owns the Party House in Allen, which Heather manages. They attend church in Plano. They said with the support of friends and family close by they are getting ready for the big change to come.
“Everything baby wise has been healthy and I’ve felt really good,” Heather said. “The doctors are all amazed at how well it’s been going, but it could change. We pray everyday. We’re just kind of taking it week by week now.”
The due date for the babies is May 6, but Heather said they’re shooting for 34 weeks which would be considered extremely good. If they make it to that point in mid-March, doctors at Plano Medical Center will take the babies by c-section.
The couple said they’ve collected bunches of baby goods and have already picked out names for all four kids. Boys will be named Brody Coleman and Korbin Lee, and girls named Baxlyn Hope and Kylee Mae. With advice from other local parents of multiples and some TV time watching Jon and Kate Plus 8, the Coxes are getting ready for challenges ahead.
“I’m fine with the quantity of four,” Heather said, “but it’s having them all at the same age that’s going to be difficult!”
