Potential ice storm closes LISD campuses
By Chris Roark, Staff Writer
Lewisville ISD closed its campuses and facilities today because of the threat of icy conditions.
LISD spokesperson Dean Tackett said that though the area hadn’t experienced any ice, the potential of it coming in made district officials take early precaution.
“(LISD Superintendent) Dr. (Jerry) Roy had talked to the Denton ISD superintendent, and they had closed down because they determined that it was coming,” Tackett said. “So we wanted to make sure we didn’t wait until the last minute. You look at Oklahoma, and they already have ice. We figured that we might get to school OK, but we might have problems getting home.”
