Three people are now seeking the Place 4 position on the Lewisville City Council.

They include Thomas John (TJ) Gilmore, who filed late Friday, and John Gorena and Margie Rochelle, who filed earlier in the week.

Dean Ueckert, who now holds that position, is running for mayor instead. Winston Edmondson Jr. has also filed as a candidate for mayor. Ueckert will continue to serve in the Place 4 position until his replacement has been sworn in, either following the city election scheduled for May 9 or following a runoff election, if necessary.

Gilmore, 36, has been a resident of Lewisville for seven years and 11 months. He has served on the Lewisville Community Development Block Grant Committee since 2005. He is presently a regional sales manager for Iwatsu, an Irving firm that manufactures business telephone systems. He is the father of three children.

Rochelle has lived in the city for 12 years. She is married with 3 children.  Rochelle is retired from the city of Lewisville after 21 years of service.  Rochelle served 14 years as a police/fire dispatcher/supervisor and seven years as property & evidence technician.

She has served on numerous department and city committees. She was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations during her 21 years of service to the city.

Rochelle is currently a medical billing specialist for Texas Knee & Sports Medicine in Carrollton.

Gorena ran unsuccessfully last year against Place 1 incumbent Greg Tierney. Gorena received almost 38 percent of the votes cast in that election.

Gorena, 46, has been a resident of Lewisville for the past 21 years. He has attended most city council workshops and council meetings for more than a year.

The winner will serve out the one year which will be remaining on Ueckert’s term.

Also, the term of Place 2 Councilman David Thornhill expires this year. Thornhill filed as a candidate for re-election Feb. 7 and, as of late Friday, had not drawn an opponent.

Ueckert has served on the city council since 1998 and Thornhill has served since 2006.

Candidate packets may be picked up in the city secretary’s office at Lewisville City Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. March 9 is the final day to file as a candidate.
