A local business owner offering new services to help homeowners in financial strain
By Katie Knickerbocker, McKinney Courier-Gazette
No one likes a contractor who only does the job halfway, until now. Ron Rasmussen owner of Rasmussen Landscape & Irrigation in Anna, Texas, is offering new services aimed at helping costumers make affordable home improvements by embracing the “do-it-yourself” craze. The company will come out and do part of the job and allow the clients themselves to complete it.
For example, his company will dig post holes and set posts for a fence and the homeowner can then buy the eight foot fence sections at a local home improvement store and do the rest on their own. By doing some of the work themselves, Rasmussen said homeowners can save anywhere from $1,000 to $1,500 on a fence.
The company will also do the trenching for sprinkler systems, waterlines and telephone lines and dig holes needed for landscaping.
“Lets say someone wants to put in big tree,” Rasmussen said. “He knows it’s murder to dig those holes but I can come in two hours and dig the holes for him and he can plant the tree himself.”
Rasmussen has been in business full-time for 11 years but has worked in landscaping and irrigation since the mid-70s. He runs his business out of his home offering landscape design and installation, irrigation design and installation, tractor and trenching services, sidewalks and patios, decks and fences and retainer walls
to Collin county and surrounding areas.
He said he came up with the idea to offer partial services when he noticed work slowing down in the struggling economy. Since advertising the new services Rasmussen said he and his crew have been busy.
“We're still doing all the old stuff the old way but we're trying to reach the customer who has limited funding,” he said. To inquire about services offered by Rasmussen Landscape & Irrigation call 214-801-7227.
