Council, community to honor Stover

Members of the Coppell City Council and the city staff will host a reception honoring outgoing Mayor Doug Stover from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 12 in the atrium of Town Center.
The public is invited to help honor his service to the community.
Stover will be stepping down from the mayor position after the May 9 elections, after serving the Coppell community for more than 11 years. His last council meeting was April 28.
“Stover was involved in many city projects that have positively changed the face of the community,” said Sharon Logan, community information officer.
Legislative highlights of Mayor Stover’s administration include the teen anti-drinking campaign called Those Who Host, Lose The Most, making the speed limit 25 mph speed on residential streets, a 379A sales tax n Education Development. Corporation, the North Lake property acquisition, the redevelopment of Old Coppell, the first fireworks display, a 1/4 cent sales tax election for a crime district and 1/4 cent for streets and the new Senior Center.
