CCG earns second place award from Keep Texas Beautiful

Keep Texas Beautiful announced the Coppell Community Garden as the second place winner of the 2009 Civic Organization Leadership Award. The honor recognizes the efforts of the Coppell Community Garden to better the Coppell community and the environment.
This is the second award won by Coppell.
Last week Keep Texas Beautiful awarded second place to the city as the runner up of the 2009 Government Award for the city’s ecoCoppell initiatives.
The Keep Texas Beautiful Civic Organization Leadership Award is one of nine categories in the Keep Texas Beautiful Awards and recognizes outstanding beautification efforts by civic organizations in their local communities. The award was first presented in 1993.
“The Coppell Community Garden recently celebrated the 100,000th pound of fresh produce grown at the Helping Hands and Ground Delivery Gardens and donated to the Metrocrest Social Services food pantry,” said Cristal Rollins community programs coordinator.
Award winners were recognized during the 42nd Annual Keep Texas Beautiful conference on June 11in Houston. A full list of winners and award descriptions can be found at www.ktb.org.
