Muslim women fed hungry in the month of Ramadan

Staff Reports
The Dallas chapter of Lajna Imaillah, the women’s auxiliary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is launching a community outreach project, “Feed the Hungry”. This initiative started in the Islamic month of Ramadan which began on Aug. 22 and ends on Sept. 19. The members of AMC are providing their services at “The Samaritan Inn.” We are also pleased to undertake this project as a response to President Obama’s call for community outreach, “United We Serve.”
Ramadan is the month when the Muslims fast from dawn to dusk as an obligatory act of worship. This is also the month when the Muslim holy book, the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings of God be upon him). The Quran teaches that one of the purposes of fasting is that the believers become compassionate towards those who are less fortunate and extend a helping hand to the needy.
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community (AMC) is a dynamic, reformist and fast growing international movement within Islam. Founded in 1889, AMC spans over 180 countries with membership exceeding tens of millions. AMC USA, established in 1921, is the first American-Muslim organization.
