Lady Bulldogs step past Sherman into playoffs

McKinney North swept Sherman in three (27-25, 27-25, 25-21) to place third in district 9-4A courtesy of a 9-5 record. Advancing into the playoffs, the Lady Bulldogs will play first-round foe Highland Park on Tuesday, November 3rd at Plano West.
Contributing for North were Allison Stubbs, with 13 kills, 18 digs and four blocks; Aundrea Gamble, with 10 kills and four aces; Laura Evans, with 11 digs; Alyssa Swank, with 22 assists and two aces; and Alayna Jackson, with 10 kills, 15 assists and 10 digs.
Closing out its district season, McKinney High defeated Denison in a 4-set match (25-14, 26-28, 25-18, 25-19) to place fifth in the 9-4A standings with a 6-8 record, one spot short of a trip to the playoffs. In the Lady Lions? final match of the season, Megan Robinson had eight kills, Ashley Bennett seven kills and six blocks, Sara Bates seven kills, Sydney Pratt six aces and 24 digs, and Kirsten Tekavec five aces and 14 assists.
