Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District will be seeing red next week as it celebrates Red Ribbon Week.

C-FB ISD will commemorate the largest drug prevention campaign in the country with a number of events.

A citywide kick-off breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn in Lewisville. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent James Capra will be the keynote speaker.

Former NFL Player and anti-drug speaker Keith Davis will visit McCoy Elementary School at 1:50 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. McCoy’s principal and her dog will also dress up as superheroes.

Rosemeade Elementary School will receive a special visit from the Drug Enforcement Agency on Wednesday, Oct. 28. The DEA will fly its helicopter to the school for a presentation at 1:45 p.m.

The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to inform the students about the dangers of using drugs, encourage students to stand up against drugs, and promote a drug-free way of life.

C-FB ISD elementary, middle and high schools will celebrate from Oct. 26 to 30. During Red Ribbon Week, most schools also pass out red ribbons or red bracelets as an encouragement to remain drug-free.
