Moore named to McDonald's All-America team
BY Kevin Hageland Staff Writer
Frisco senior Tiffany Moore has positioned herself as one of the best 24 girls basketball players in the country by being selected to McDonald’s All-America High School team.
The 5-foot-10 forward was picked live Thursday afternoon during the selection broadcast on ESPNU.
Players were considered from a batch of 2,150 nominees by a committee of basketball experts. They were chosen for their on-court skills as well as their performances off the court.
Now Moore will have a chance to show off her talents on a bigger stage as the McDonald’s All-America game will be televised live March 31 on ESPNU. The game will emanate from the Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Moore will play for the West team, which sports five Texas girls. That squad will be coached by Duncanville’s Cathy Self-Morgan and Dorena Bingham of East Anchorage (Alaska).
Alumni from the McDonald’s games include Seimone Augustus, Candace Parker, Alonzo Mourning, Magic Johnson, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant and Chris Bosh.
“Year after year I am impressed with the extraordinary high school talent the McDonald's All American games bring to the forefront of the basketball world,” Morning said. “These young athletes will not only get the chance to become basketball stars of the next generation, but more importantly they will be provided the opportunity to bring attention and raise money for an important cause and learn essential life lessons off the court.”
