On Feb. 20-21, National Athletic Combine (NAC) will come to Prosper High School's indoor practice facility, 301 Eagle Dr., for a two-day event testing some of the top football players in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
NAC offers a new way to give high school athletes a cost-free avenue to evaluation that colleges use as another method of identifying players worthy of scholarships. Among those on hand will be former NFL offensive lineman Carl Mauck; longtime NFL coach and scout John Paul Young, who was on staff under both Bum Phillips and current Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips; and former Cowboys scout Jim Hess, who is credited with discovering Tony Romo.
National Athletic Combine uses cutting-edge technology to simulate the NFL combine experience for high school student-athletes. Once the times and totals are collected, they are gathered and shared with football-playing schools who are clients. NAC is also conducting combines all over Texas as it completes its beta phase. The next stop will be in Odessa at the Permian indoor practice facility March 6-7.
