McKinney Courier-Gazette
The Children’s Chorus of Collin County is an auditioned group comprised of singers in 4th through 10th grades. It is a non-profit organization and is tuition based. The Chorus rehearses on Monday evenings, September - May from 6:30 – 8 p.m. in Plano.
Auditions for the 2010-2011 season will be on Saturday, May 15.
Concert – for boys and girls in 4th, 5th, 6th Grades
Youth – for boys and girls in 7th - 10th Grades
Each audition will take five to 10 minutes. It will be informal and no previous experience or preparation is needed. The audition will consist of a short vocalizing session that will focus on the singing voice as well as posture and breathing. There will also be a few exercises where the child will be asked to repeat some vocal and rhythmic patterns.
Qualifications for membership in the Chorus are a clear singing voice, a strong sense of pitch, as well as musical and vocal readiness, emotional maturity, good attitude, and ability to focus. There must also be a commitment to regular attendance at rehearsals and performances.
If you are interested in auditioning for the Chorus, but are unable to audition on this date, the chorus will set another audition time for you in late July. Call now to reserve either date.
To schedule an audition, please call the Chorus Office at 972-618-5636.
