2009 - 2010 Young Minds Digital Times™ Film Competition – Winners Announced
Houston, TX – May 21st, 2010 - The Young Minds Digital Times Film Competition is pleased to announce that Chad Potts, student at Dr. John Horn High School, is a First Place Winner in the Freeform Animation Category. His film, Hey, Wanna Race?, an epic stop motion animation between two students, is a composite of nearly 2,500 still pictures put together. The film caught judges’ attention right away. Animator Dano Johnson commented, “I liked the combination of live-action and animation, and the animation was very well executed. Best editing over all as well as best/most natural animation editing.”
The final judging panel consisted of fifteen professional judges with insight into film making and youth culture. The judges were unanimously impressed by the films they viewed and hoped participants would continue to seek out opportunities to learn and improve their film making. Two Grand Prize winners and seven additional Category Winners and Judge’s Choice Awards were also announced by the Competition. The winning filmmakers represent nine different schools and were joined by over 730 other individuals throughout the competition’s process. A complete list of award winners is available at www.youngmindsdigitaltimes.com.
