Paramedics rushed an unidentified Encore Wire employee who got his hand caught in a large press Wednesday.

The accident happened approximately 9:10 a.m. at the Encore Wire building located in the 1300 block of Millwood Drive, according to McKinney dispatch records.

McKinney Assistant Fire Chief Frank Roma said a 46-year-old male employee of the company got his right hand caught in a press on the factory floor causing "traumatic amputation."

Paramedics set up a landing zone for a medical helicopter and transported him to Baylor Medical Center of Dallas for treatment.

Roma said the man's injuries were not "life-threatening, but the nature of the accident warranted flying him to Baylor."

The victim's condition could not be obtained because the victim was not identified. Attempts were made to reach Encore Wire officials, but none could be reached by presstime.
