A woman from Irving has been charged with murder following a stabbing incident at Hidden Cove Park in The Colony on Thursday.

Dana Jill Thompson, 57, allegedly stabbed 79-year-old Lester Glickman to death with a pair of scissors at about 5 p.m. in a secluded area of the park near the roadway leading to the park's cabins.

According to a statement from TCPD, two park employees were driving through the park in a work truck when they witnessed a female straddled over the victim while repeatedly stabbing him with what they believed to be an ice pick. They yelled at her to stop as they approached the scene, at which time she stood up and walked away from the victim, who was found to be severely wounded with life-threatening injuries from numerous stab wounds.

When police arrived, the suspect was still at the scene after having been detained by the two witnesses and fire department personnel. Glickman was transported to Baylor Hospital in Carrollton, where he died of his injuries. Thompson was arrested and charged with murder. She also was taken to Baylor Hospital for treatment to cuts on her hands sustained during the crime and later booked into The Colony Jail, according to the statement.

Police say a pair of bloody scissors found at the scene is believed to be the murder weapon. On Monday, the police department said its investigation also found that a “Swiss Army type knife” was used as a weapon in addition to the scissors.

Police also said the investigation confirms that Glickman and Thompson had been a “couple” since 1997. On Thursday, they were on a drive and wanted to see Lewisville Lake from the vantage point of Hidden Cove Park on Hackberry Creek Park Road. While Glickman was driving through the park, Thompson began stabbing him repeatedly. The vehicle veered off the road and came to rest at a tree. The victim then ended up on the ground, where the suspect continued to stab him.

According to the statement, Thompson confessed to the attack during interrogation but offered no clear motive as to what triggered it.

Thompson was transferred to the Denton County Jail on Friday on a $250,000 bond.
