Collin County, Tom Green County murder suspect doing federal time on drug charges

Purdie Guerra Clark has faced jail time on a number of serious criminal charges including theft, fraud and murder.
Court documents show, however, that she's already doing time for a lengthy sentence for methamphetamine charges.
Clark, the widow of Kimberly Alan Clark who was found dead in 2006 on the side of a county road just outside Chamberville, is currently serving a sentence of just under 20 years in a federal prison as part of a plea agreement for drug and weapons charges.
Authorities said Mrs. Clark intended to manufacture and sell approximately 500 grams of a methamphetamine mixture and 50 grams of methamphetamines between January of 2004 to April of 2009, according to a felony information motion.
She changed her plea to guilty as a part of an agreement between the U.S. Attorney's Office and her attorney from the public defender's office. The judge sentenced her to 235 months in federal prison followed by a term of five years under supervised release, according to court records.
Attempts were made to reach her attorney and a representative of the U.S. Attorney's Office but neither could be reached by presstime.
Mrs. Clark, whoÕs last known address was in Eldorado, Tex., still faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the poisoning death of her former husband. The 119th District Court of Tom Green County will try Purdie Guerra Clark on Wednesday, Sept. 15 for the poisoning death of her other husband, James "Bud" Phillips of San Angelo. Her trial is scheduled to begin on Sept. 15, according to court records.
Officers arrested Mrs. Clark last March in Collin County. Several Texas Rangers and Collin County's Major Crime Task Force received a tip to Mrs. Clark's whereabouts and set up a surveillance on the location. Officers spotted Mrs. Clark in the area and attempted to stop her, but she refused to comply with their requests. A short chase ensued and officers were able to stop her car within a few minutes without further incident, according to the statement.
She also received felony counts of fraud and theft of service for stealing and fraudulently using checks in San Angelo. A Tom Green County court placed her on deferred adjudication for the theft charge. Prosecutors filed a motion to revoke her probation for an unauthorized absence from a correctional facility in September of 2009. The case is still pending.
Collin County sheriff's deputies said that Mrs. Clark remains a suspect in the shooting death of her other husband 41-year-old Kimberly Clark, even though no formal charges have been filed in connection with the case since his body was found back in 2006. Lt. John Norton of the Collin County Sheriff's Office said no additional leads, changes or charges have occurred in the investigation of Mr. Clark's death.
