Restaurant to raise money for cancer research
From staff reports
Reel Thing Catfish Café in Allen will hold a buffet and fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure walk from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 13.
Ten percent of all food sales will go toward the fundraising efforts of “Walking for 4,” a team of 3-Day participants walking in memory of four friends and relatives lost to breast cancer. Personal donations will be taken at the event as well.
The effort is coordinated with Sonja Harrison, director of administrative services for McKinney ISD and Walking for 4 team member. The event will be held in memory of Mary E. Bens, Harrison’s mother, who died of breast cancer in 2007.
Lt. Calvin Spann, one of the original Tuskegee Airmen and Allen resident, will also be present at the fundraiser. The buffet will be $10 or $12 with beverage. Attendees can also order from the regular menu.
Reel Thing Catfish Café is located at 600 E. Main St. in Allen.
For information and to donate to Walking for 4, call Harrison at 972-934-9420.
