When Ty Treadway is not running a successful real estate business with his wife, Monica, he is flying out to Los Angeles to lead a double life.

He is not a secret agent and is well aware that should he kiss another woman out in California, his wife will definitely see it. In fact, sometimes she helps him rehearse. Ty began taping episodes for “Days of Our Lives” in August, where he plays Dr. Jason Walters.

Ty has been on and off of soap operas for the last 10 years, and Monica said that although she too gets sucked into the story line, she does not get jealous when she sees him on television with a femme fatale.

“I’m the other person in the script, so I kind of know what’s going on before, but I still like to see it on the TV," Monica said. “It’s actually very comfortable watching him in the scenes. It’s not as romantic as you think – it’s acting.”

The trust and level of comfort most likely comes from the ample time they share together working on their Frisco-based business, Treadway Realty. Monica was a real estate agent out in Santa Monica for about seven years selling multi-million dollar homes, while Ty hosted American Idol Extra and later the Merv Griffin’s Crosswords game show. They made the decision to move to Frisco where Monica’s extended family had settled.

“When we came here and saw what you could get for your money, everything just kind of made sense,” Ty said. “It’s the best housing market in America, doing better economically than the rest of the country.”

Both Monica and Ty said they love living in Frisco and helping families find their dream homes is a passion they share. They spend around 90 percent of their day together and Ty expressed a wish that they were together even more.

“I love every minute of it,” Ty said. “I have nothing but admiration for who she is.”

The power duo gets along as work partners and as mother and father of two children, 5-year-old daughter, Samantha, and 4-year-old son Ryder.

“He’s an amazing dad and amazing husband,” Monica said. “We have a great relationship, a very strong, committed relationship.”

Ty flew in from shooting to see his daughter attend her first day of kindergarten at Spears Elementary.

“I had to walk her to school,” Ty said. “It was a fun, proud moment for mom and dad.”

The story of how the couple met 11 years ago reads almost like a Hollywood script. Ty grew up in New Jersey and went to school for accounting, a job he said was tedious for his personality. After his mother’s death he changed his perspective on life and went looking for adventure in New York – studying and training to become an actor. He caught his first lucky break on the soap opera “All My Children,” where he got a small part as a stage manager in the show.

He moved to Los Angeles working on a couple of small films, playing roles on television shows and working as a bartender. The two were introduced by a mutual friend, Ryan Seacrest.

“Now we laugh, because [Ryan] has gone on to mega-stardom,” she said, adding that after she met Ty, the couple have been together ever since. “I just thought [Ty] had an amazing smile and gorgeous blue eyes. He was a sweetheart and very kind and romantic.”

It was his ability to sweep someone off their feet that helped land Ty his first major role as Dr. Colin Maciver on the soap opera “One Life to Live.” He remembered how disappointed he felt reading that his character was about to be killed off in the show after a year.

“You feel sad for the character,” he said, “then you feel sad for yourself because you just lost your job and the venue to do what you love to do.”

Because of the overwhelming fan response, producers brought Ty back on the show as Colin’s nicer twin brother, Troy. As he worked on and off the show for five years, Ty also co-hosted “Soap Talk” with Lisa Rinna. During its run, the show received four Emmy Nominations for Best Talk Show Host. Ty and Monica went every year to the awards show.

“It’s surreal when you’re like, ‘there’s Dr. Phil, and Ellen and Regis; we’re nominated with those guys?’” he said. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for them.”

The Treadways have walked the red carpet and have been a part of the celebrity scene first hand, but they both agree that their move to Texas was like coming home.

“We are Frisco-centric,” Ty said. “They’ve done such an amazing job at planning this city with a great mix of commercial and entertainment, but with a focus on family. Family – it’s always been my number one priority in life, and it’s a great place to raise a family. We’ve really invested ourselves in this community.”

Monica volunteers with the Frisco Women’s League, and Ty is spearheading an event for Frisco Family Services in the fall, where he will act as emcee. He said that volunteering was natural for their family, because of the type of community Frisco strives to be, and because they have been unbelievably blessed.

“We’re loving what we’re doing, and we’re happy to call this our home,” Monica said. “The sky is the limit.”

The first air date for this season of “Days of Our Lives” is Sept. 16 on NBC.
