As a warm-up to the Red River Rivalry game, Wells Fargo Advisors will be hosting an exciting competition between University of Texas and University of Oklahoma fans to see which side can bring in the most monetary contributions and food pantry item donations for Frisco Family Services, a non profit agency dedicated to providing services to individuals and families in need or in crisis.
“We are proud members of the Frisco community and are looking forward to another successful Red River Tail Gate & Fan Challenge,” said Jon Williams, senior vice president of investments and branch manager of the Frisco Office of Wells Fargo Advisors. “We hope this will really help FFS and the families they assist, and that this event will be a fun and exciting way to kick off Red River Rivalry week in the community for years to come.”
All football fans are invited to come out and enjoy food, fun and a little football entertainment and make a donation to show their loyalty for their favorite team. For every food pantry item donated, the team selected by the fan will receive one point towards their score or three points for donating boxed meal helpers or bagged rice. Making a monetary contribution scores a touchdown for six points.
The team with the highest number of points will represent who has the best school spirit. All though neck and neck throughout the night at last year's event, Texas Fans pulled out ahead as the winners of the fan challenge, earning 825 points through their donations.
Everyone can participate in several fan activities and watch clips from previous games. A prize will be awarded in the score prediction contest and a donation of $20 or more will enter people in a drawing to win a pair of tickets to the Red River Rivalry game on Oct. 2 at the Cotton Bowl. In addition to the fanfare within the pub, Lochrann’s is once-again creating a special Boomer Sooner and Bevo menu to be enjoyed during the Tail Gate Party.
“We encourage everyone to show their support and ‘team up’ with us for this event," Joni Klarin, FFSC Development Director said. “Many families are in need right here in Frisco, so food donations and financial contributions have an even greater impact now more than ever.”
