Arts center lawsuit dismissed
By Bill Conrad, bconrad@acnpapers.com
In the Nov. 10 edition of the Plano Star Courier, it was incorrectly reported that the lawsuit brought by Jack Lagos against the Arts of Collin County and several other defendants was ongoing.
The lawsuit has been dismissed by Collin County Judge Jill Willis, and all claims against the other defendants -- Eugene "Bo" Daffin, Robbie Robinson, the Collin Central Appraisal District and Jimmie Honea -- have also been dismissed.
The lawsuit centered on the actual owner of the 124 acres the proposed arts center would be located on. Lagos claimed that Briar Ridge Investments retained ownership of the property, while the defendants claimed the property was donated by Briar Ridge to the Arts of Collin County, which is now known as the Arts Center of North Texas. The property is located in Allen at the southeast corner of the intersection of Custer Road and State Highway 121.
