Bomb threat prompts AISD building closures
By Conner Hammett, chammett@acnpapers.com
A bomb threat prompted Allen police to close two Allen ISD buildings and several surrounding businesses Wednesday afternoon.
An anonymous person called the central fire station in Allen around noon and said there was an explosive device at the Dillard Special Achievement Center, 610 E. Bethany Drive, that would detonate at 12:30 p.m., said Sgt. Jon Felty of the Allen Police Department.
The Dillard center, Allen ISD administration building and several surrounding businesses were evacuated and closed in response to the threat shortly after the call was made. A search of the building revealed nothing out of the ordinary and students, AISD staff members and business operators were allowed to return to the area around 1:40 p.m.
The Allen PD encourages any person with any person with information on this incident to call the criminal investigations unit at 214-509-4239 or text the keyword ALLENPD and their tip to 847411 (TIP411).
