Published: Friday, February 17, 2012 1:05 AM CST
The Texas Division of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., has hired Kurt Knebel as vice president of civil operations.  Knebel will focus on project management, oversight and executive leadership of the division's transportation business unit, which includes road, bridge, rail, light rail and marine markets.

A 25-year veteran of the civil construction industry, Knebel has worked on large transportation and design-build projects and brings extensive construction and management experience to the McCarthy team. Knebel spent nearly five years as the North Texas area manager for Austin Bridge & Road prior to joining McCarthy. He has worked closely with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA), and he was the project director for the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) Blue Line Extension, managing all aspects of the $190-million design-build light rail project. Knebel also gained extensive experience during his 18-year tenure with Granite Construction Company, working as a project manager with various highway reconstruction projects in Texas.

Actively involved in his community, Knebel is a member of the Associate General Contractors (AGC) of Texas and volunteers with several service teams at First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Frisco.

Knebel earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and construction management from Texas A&M University in College Station. He currently lives in Frisco, Texas.
