The new building will be another stop on the Golden Corridor of Preston Road. Jay and Dr. Angela Ghanjoor are building the offices to house her dental practice and to rent space to other doctors or professionals.
It is on Preston Road just south of the entrance to Carter Ranch. The first phase is a building that will be nearly 8,200 square feet. The second phase will be a 3,600-square-foot building.. Dr. Ghanjoor hopes the first building will be ready to move into by the first of next year.
Her office, Celina Family Dentistry, has been next to the Sherwin-Williams paint store at 2750 South Preston Road for the last four years.
She practices general dentistry and is now ready to expand the business. She and her husband Jay decided to build their own building for the practice. It is the first free-standing, locally owned clinic in Celina.
The first building will be large enough to hold Ghanjoor's practice and to hold at least three other medical professionals.
Dr. Ghanjoor explained why they decided to build a building. “We wanted to be more involved in the community and this is where we're going to stay,” she said.
Their project is part of the growth coming to Celina. Texas Health Resources has already located an office in Celina. It is in leased space in the Brookshire's shopping complex. The corporation was a name sponsor for the Celina Balloon Festival last year. It's office is very nearly ready to open now.
Celina Planning and Development Director Helen-Eve Liebman said the economy is picking up.
She anticipates the city receiving a plat application for the first phase of houses in the Light Farms subdivision south of Farm-to-Market Road 428. That phase contains about 229 lots.
Another new business is getting ready to open after remodeling the old Presbyterian church building in downtown Celina just off the square. The boutique will be known as the Turquoise Firefly.
“Things are picking up both commercially and residentially. Rooftops drive retail,” Liebman said.
She is also glad to see needed services such as the Celina Medical and Professional Offices building in Celina.
Dr. Ghanjoor is also looking forward to expanding her practice in the new space.
