Rotary club recognizes student of the month
From staff reports
Lewisville Rotary recognized Logan White as its student of the month for April 2012 at a recent meeting.
Each month during the school term, Lewisville Rotary recognizes an outstanding student from the Lewisville High School campus as selected by teachers and administrative staff at the school. The student is normally accompanied by family and the school's principal, Brad Burns, to the rotary's regular lunch meeting on the third Wednesday of the month to receive a plaque and recognition before the club. White is the son of Robert and Connie White of Lewisville.
Burns provided the following information regarding White to the club's members:
Outside of school, White plays the piano, is a youth group assistant at the L. D. S. Church in Carrollton, has attended Texas Boys State and as a member of Boy Scouts he has earned the honor of Eagle Scout.
Taking many AP Classes throughout his high school years, White is currently ranked third in his graduating class of 797. He received two National Merit Scholarships -- one from the University of Oklahoma for $95,000 and one from UT Dallas for $80,000 but has chosen to attend Brigham Young University where he received a renewable full tuition merit scholarship, valued at approximately $20,000. White said he will most likely major in chemical engineering, but is also considering actuarial science or possibly accounting.
White hopes to continue playing the saxophone and being involved in music both during and after college.
