Underwood Honored by DFW Hospital Council

PLANO, Texas (May XX, 2012) – The Medical Center of Plano’s Shawna Underwood was presented with the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council’s Community Service Award at the council’s recent “Healthcare Champions Among Us” luncheon.
The luncheon at which Underwood received her award took place April 19 at the Arlington Convention Center. The annual event paid tribute to the thousands of dedicated professionals who work in the region’s healthcare institutions.
“They are the healthcare heroes of North Texas,” said Kristin Jenkins, president of the Dallas-Fort Worth Hospital Council (DFWHC) Foundation. “Their positive spirit allows our hospitals to function smoothly.”
For Underwood, a patient-care and telemetry technician in TMCP’s Clinical Decision Unit, it marked the second time this year she has been formally recognized for her energetic commitment to bettering the lives of her North Texas neighbors.
In February, the hospital presented her with its Frist Humanitarian Award, which commemorates the generosity and goodwill of the founder of HCA, the hospital’s parent company.
