Girls basketball: Lady Dragons bow out in regional quarters
BY JUSTIN THOMAS, Jthomas@acnpapers.com
A banner season for Southlake Carroll's girls basketball team came to a close Feb. 21 as the Lady Dragons came up short in the regional quarterfinals against Duncanville, 60-46.
Sierra Maykus paced the Lady Dragons with 13 points, while Kate Lewis scored 12 and Kami Mickens chipped in nine.
Carroll fell behind early, 15-8, but chipped away with a 15-12 advantage in the second. The Lady Dragon comeback attempt was halted in the third quarter, however, as the Lady Panthers used a 16-9 spurt for a 43-32 margin entering the final quarter.
