Texas Health Physicians Group opens new practice in Celina to provide care to area families

At Celina Town Center, McKinney resident Diem King, PA-C, and Texas Health Physicians Group have begun serving residents of Celina and its surrounding communities.

No longer will residents of Celina and its surrounding communities be forced to drive long distances to visit their primary care physicians.

The largest faith-based health care system in North Texas has expanded its coverage and provided much-needed relief to the growing area, as Texas Health Physicians Group (THPG) recently opened Celina Family Healthcare in Celina Town Center.

The physician assistant practice, located at 1050 Preston Road, Suite 120, offers primary care and lab services, and will better accommodate busy families with extended hours on Wednesdays (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.). Located directly next door to Celina Family Healthcare, THPG has opened offices that provide specialty services to include OB-GYN Associates of North Dallas, which opened April 30, and Heartfirst, a cardiology group operated by Texas Health Physicians Group, set to open June 7.

“Medical services are a crucial component of the well-being of any community, and we are pleased to operate the first physician assistant practice in Celina,” said Dr. Michael Stoltz, president of Texas Health Physicians Group. “Across the communities Texas Health serves, we aim to improve the health of the people in the community, and we look forward to fulfilling that mission in the community of Celina.”

By extending its health care reach into Celina, THPG is making it more convenient for residents in that area to receive primary care attention. Celina Family Healthcare is operated by Texas Health Physicians Group, a network of more than 750 primary and specialty care physicians and mid-level providers serving North Texas communities with quality health care delivered through either an office setting or a hospitalist program. Texas Health operates a variety of health care services and hospitals, and is the largest health care provider in North Texas in terms of patients served.

Diem King, PA-C, is the certified physician assistant who will be working at the Celina practice. A familiar face to many North Texas residents, King previously practiced in several primary care clinics in Allen after completing her training at the UT Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know my patients and the Celina community, and I look forward to becoming more involved in the community,” said King, a McKinney resident, who is fluent in Vietnamese and conversant in medical Spanish. King has two children, and enjoys cooking, reading and ceramics when she isn’t seeing patients.

Physician assistants are health professionals licensed by the state who work with the supervision of a physician. They can provide a broad range of medical and surgical services, and as part of their responsibilities, perform physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, order and interpret lab tests and prescribe medications.

“I believe a trusting patient-clinician relationship is built upon effective communication and patient education,” King said. “I am committed to serve Celina and the surrounding communities with quality health care and integrity.”

Donnie Wyar and Jennifer Erickson submitted this story on behalf of Texas Health Physicians Group and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, respectively.
