Southlake Department of Public Safety (DPS) will take part in the largest Medal of Honor recipient motorcade Wednesday.
Organizers of the motorcade estimate that the motorcade will stretch 7 to 8 miles long with more than 400 vehicles participating and 13 different agencies. The motorcade is expected to leave the DFW Airport between 3 and 4 p.m. The motorcade will start from the parking lot at Highway 114 and Freeport Parkway and travel to Gainesville.
"It is such a tremendous honor for the men and women of Southlake DPS, many who are veterans themselves, to be a part of this annual event to honor our nation's veterans," said Southlake DPS Police Chief Stephen Mylett. "They proudly served our country and they deserve our unwavering support and gratitude."
"The motorcade is a great expression of gratitude to these living Heroes and our public safety agencies are proud to be participating," said Deputy Constable King who coordinates the escort.
