From Staff Reports
Celebrity chef Blythe Beck hosted a Mother's Day event for clients of Hope's Door, Collin County's only domestic violence shelter and counseling center, on May 8. The event featured a buffet dinner from some of Dallas' top fine dining restaurants, makeovers for Mom and arts and crafts for kids.
"I am so honored to be able to show these brave women and children some love and am grateful to my friends for their help in making this event happen," Beck said. "When I became acquainted with Hope's Door and their life-saving work, I felt compelled to extend my hand in support the best way I know how -- through food. I reached out to my friends and colleagues in the area and they instantly agreed to help."
Restaurants providing food included Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, Fearing's and The Grape. Beauty products and Mother's Day baskets were donated by Kiehl's and MedAssets. Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant Kristi Pack donated custom make-up compacts for each lady in attendance.
