National touring Lincoln exhibit to open at Lewisville Library

Lincoln exhibit to open at Lewisville Library on June 30th
By Kelly Brouillard, LPL Adult Services Librarian
"Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War," a national touring exhibit opening at the Lewisville Public Library on June 30th, examines how President Lincoln used the Constitution to confront three intertwined crises of the Civil War -- the secession of Southern states, slavery and wartime civil liberties.
The Lewisville Public Library is one of only eight libraries in Texas to be chosen to host the exhibit, and the first in North Texas. "We are thrilled to have been selected as a site for the Lincoln exhibit, and we are excited about the events we have planned during its run at the Lewisville Public Library," said Kelly Brouillard, Adult Services Librarian. The National Constitution Center and the American Library Association organized the traveling exhibition, which was made possible by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
The Lewisville Public Library invites you to attend the kick-off and official opening of the exhibit on Saturday, June 30th at 2:00pm at the library. The kick-off will feature a presentation by Dr. Kenneth Stevens, TCU Professor of History, titled "Lincoln & the Expansion of Presidential Power During the Civil War," followed by "Songs the Soldiers Sang," a Civil War music presentation by historian Mr. Joe Walker. Attendees will be eligible for a prize drawing.
