Only three days after one Coppell High School student apparently drowned after jumping off a cliff at Possum Kingdom Lake, another CHS student was found dead at McInnish Park in Carrollton, just east of the Coppell city limits.

The body of Jonah Blackwell, a CHS senior, was taken to the medical examiner's office after police went to the park shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Jon Stovall, Carrollton Police Department public information officer, said Coppell police had contacted Carrollton police Tuesday afternoon after receiving calls from the victim's friends that he had sent tweets and emails that indicated that he was suicidal.

Stovall said Carrollton police found the body in a wooded area at the back of the park. He said a handgun was found at the scene.

"The medical examiner will make the final ruling, but we are investigating it as a suicide," Stovall said.

Both Stovall and friends of the victim said they do not believe there was any connection between the apparent drowning of Jacob Logan and the death of Jonah Blackwell.

Stovall said the investigation indicated that Jonah was facing several personal issues.

Jonah was not a member of the football team. However, he was a member of the Coppell Silver Spurs and ran cross country.

A friend who asked not to be identified said, "He always seemed happy. We can't understand why he did this."

While funeral arrangements are pending for the one who died Tuesday, a search continues for the other in Possum Kingdom Lake. By late Wednesday, no body had been located despite the fact that several divers had been searching the lake daily since Sunday afternoon.
