A celebration of the life of Thomas Wilson Russell Sr., a dedicated servant of the Lord, loving husband and father, and precious friend to many, will be held at First Baptist Church of Winnsboro, Texas, on Saturday, January 12, at 1:00 p.m.

His pastor, David Rose, and Tom's cousin, Reverend Donnie Melton, will perform the memorial service.

Tom was born in Paris, Texas, on April 10, 1953, to the late Anna Elaine Melton Russell and Orville Wilson Russell.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Kathi Russell; his son, Tom Russell Jr. of Denton; his daughter Genise Reinschmidt and her husband Kevin, of Amarillo; his stepson Bradley Thurman; and grandchildren, Madi and Peyton, of Lubbock.

Tom grew up in Mesquite, Texas, and graduated from North Mesquite High School. He received his B.S. at ETSU in Commerce, and his M.S. at Amber University.

He lived in Garland and Sachse, Texas, while working for GTE-Verizon for 26 years. He and his wife Kathi moved to Winnsboro in 2008, where Tom continued working as a substitute teacher for three school districts.

Tom was a faithful servant of the Lord throughout his life. He served as pianist at Gross Road Baptist Church in Mesquite for years. He and Kathi were dedicated members of First Baptist Church of Wylie and now First Baptist Church of Winnsboro.

Thanks be to God for allowing us our time with Tom Russell as our husband, father, "papa," son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, friend, co-worker and fellow servant of the Lord until we join him again one day.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Benevolence Construction fund in honor of Tom Russell at P.O. Box 63, Winnsboro, TX 75494.
