Speak Up for Texas Public Schools to host forums
From staff reports
Wednesday, Speak Up for Texas Public Schools will host three community forums to provide area residents with important information on high stakes testing and vouchers, along with the impact pending legislation will have on our local communities, students, teachers and public schools.
Forums will include speakers from Texans Advocating for Meaningful Student Assessment (TAMSA) and Texas Kids Can’t Wait, and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of a panel of speakers. Residents from across North Texas are invited to attend. All forums will be identical and repeated throughout the day at various times and locations to allow as many people as possible to attend.
Forum times and locations are as follows:
• Noon at LISD’s Career Center East located at 2553 FM 544 in Lewisville
• 7 p.m. at LISD’s Special Services Administrative Building located at 400 West Main Street in Lewisville
Each forum is expected to last approximately one hour.
Speak Up for Texas Public Schools is a local, grassroots advocacy group formed by Lewisville ISD (LISD) parents to inform communities throughout Texas about opportunities to stand up for our public schools and children.
Speak Up for Texas Public Schools was organized to raise awareness about the challenges and threats facing public schools, their students and surrounding communities and help advocate for meaningful change. Through our efforts, we hope to encourage others to “speak up” on issues facing public schools.
