Sylvia Swindell Smith
Sylvia Swindell Smith of Princeton, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2013, at the age of 89.
She was born on November 25, 1923, in Farmersville, Texas, to Silvanious and Mary Bessie (McAdams) Swindell.
On November 25, 1939, Sylvia married William Chester "Bear" Smith in Farmersville. She was a member of Step of Faith Worship Center in Farmersville. Sylvia worked as a nurse for 43 years at Collin Memorial Hospital in McKinney.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Don and wife, Tanya Smith of McKinney, Texas, and Jerry Glenn and wife, Rhonda Smith of Nobility, Texas; grandchildren, Travis, Greg, Brandon, Jodi, Kimberly, Kevin, Chester, Jennifer, Jerry Jr., and Jessica; 17 great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-law Jayne Smith of Wolfe City, Texas, and Bertie Smith Wizansky of Marble Falls, Texas.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Silvanious and Mary Bessie Swindell; husband, William Chester "Bear" Smith; sons, Mark Wayne and William Travis Smith; and her infant baby brother.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on February 1, 2013, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday evening, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
