Some of the biggest names in Texas country music will be bringing their talents to downtown Plano this year as part of the Courtyard Theater's Texas Music Series.
The series kicks off March 7 with a performance by Jack Ingram and will also welcome well-known acts including Billy Joe Shaver and Charlie Robison during the 2013 season.
"It takes the artists and puts them in a singer-songwriter acoustic setting," said Michelle Burbeaux, venue supervisor for the Courtyard Theater. "This is a very intimate setting where the performers can tell stories from their time on the road and talk about the meaning behind their songs."
The theater holds 324 people, but more than 140 season tickets have already been sold, Burbeaux said. When tickets for Ingram's performance go on sale Feb. 4, Burbeaux said she expects them to sell fast. Tickets for future performances go on sale one month before the show, she said.
Ron Smith, recreation supervisor for the city of Plano, said $75 VIP tickets have been added in addition to the $25 reserved seats. VIP tickets entitle the patron to meet the performer backstage for a picture as well as receive signed a signed album. If the concert is not sold out, tickets are available for $19 the day of the show.
The popularity of the inaugural season last year, with most concerts at or near capacity, leads Burbeaux to believe the 2013 series will be even better.
"We want people to come to downtown Plano early and enjoy the dining options we have around the theater," she said. "Our goal is to bring the best artists to the area and keep the ticket prices down."
