23-4A BOYS SOCCER: Pirates edge Tigers in district opener

Poteet had three different players score on Tuesday and it needed every single one of them.

The Pirates used scores from Jesus Armendariz, Carlos Cardenas and Charles Ojeda to post a 3-2 victory over Terrell in the 23-4A opener for both teams.

Poteet improved to 1-0 in district play and 8-0-3 overall.

The Tigers got goals from Omar Benitez and Cristoval Martinez.

Poteet will host North Forney on Friday at A.C. New Middle School and then travel to face Kaufman on Tuesday.

West Mesquite had a bye on Tuesday and will open district play on Friday against Crandall at Mesquite Memorial Stadium before going on the road to play Terrell on Tuesday.
